| Caroline Fisher |
| Maycomb welcomes its newest teacher, Miss Caroline Fisher.
She is 21yrs old and comes from North Alabama, from Winston County. She
will be teaching the 1st grade. |
| Bad Parents? |
| Children in the first grade have been instructed not to read
at home. According to Miss Caroline, the schools know better and fear the
parents will teach the kids incorrectly. No one in this town has questioned
the teachers because everyone knows that teachers know what is best for
our children. |

| 1st Grader's First Day |
| "She smells like a peppermint drop". Those are the words of Jean Louise Finch, a first grader in Miss
Caroline Fisher's class. According to Jean Louise, also known as Scout,
Miss Caroline read a story about cats and then printed the alphabet on the
blackboard. "Miss Caroline told me to tell my father not to teach
me any more, it would interfere with my reading...says my father, Atticus
Finch, does not know how to teach". According to Miss Caroline
a new way of teaching is going to happen called the Dewey Decimal System. |
