KUDOS FOR OUR EDITOR

As I have written before, after retirement, our Retirees can't retire from the general work force; they just can't seem to sit still.

Take for example my editor, MARIA GIUSTO VILLARREAL. She could have very well sat back on her past laurels and retired in comfort. But No-o-o-o! She decided that was not for her. Instead, she marshaled together her family and friends, I being one of her oldest friends, saying in all of her naiveté:

"Lets start a web site to cameo our writings. After all we've always been interested in writing and everything literary. So, lets get our duffs in gear and do something about that."

"Sure!" I had retorted, not taking her too seriously. Ha! Before I knew it, she was at my house with sheaves of paper, pencils, pens, and said Lets Get Started! That was a year and a half ago, and here we are with a full-fledged web site http://www.4pointspress.com, which publishes not only our own literary works, but the works of other authors as well.

The novel, "The Oedipus Syndrome" by MARIA GIUSTO (my editor), has actually been in its development process for many years previously. The novel had been painstakingly written during her working career and never published until now. In my opinion, its arrival has been well worth the wait. Last year was the first time I reviewed the first draft of " The Oedipus Syndrome ". The story line and the characters were very strong, interesting, and multi-dimensional. MARIA has chosen her locations well which gives the novel a worldwide appeal. The scenes are alive with the sense of what it is like to be where Raf Frataleon, the protagonist, is at any given moment.

I, for one, not only appreciate but admire those people who, in the senior years of their lives, pursue and then succeed in another career vastly different from their lifetime one.
